The
C.D.I. has existed for over 18 years (since 1982) and the
C.I.C. (Cobalt Information Centre) since the 1950’s.
We naturally do not have an exhaustive list of facts on all
and every facet of cobalt, its sources, uses and properties.
We discover this every day when some new question arises.
We do, however, have a great deal of information - old and
new. It does us little good if nobody asks about it so here
are a few things that we have, which you may find useful.
We do not charge to answer questions, nor for some of our
publications.

The 2003 edition
of the joint CDI and WBMS review of World Cobalt Statistics
is now available. This publication reviews all of the
available data on the production and external trade in Cobalt
and first processing stage cobalt products. Tables summarising
the production and demand for cobalt on a country-by-country
basis are given for the years 1999 to 2003. The production
data comes from a variety of sources and is based on the CDI
definitions. Demand data is calculated on an apparent
basis and presents a comprehensive study of the world demand
for cobalt. The publications covers all of the essential
elements for any serious analysis of the intricacies of the
cobalt market.
CDI Occupational
Exposure Workshop
A CD-ROM containing
the proceedings from the CDI Occupational Exposure Workshop
held in North Carolina in March 2003. The papers included
cover occupational exposure to cobalt, exposure study procedures
and a look at the way forward for the Cobalt industry.

Other
Information
The CDI has access to much published and unpublished information
about cobalt, its markets and sources. We also carry abstracts,
references and papers going back to the 1950's. We may not
have what you need, but you never know.
1. Alloy Index
We have an up to date file index system, which is constantly
updated through Alloy Digest. It contains around 4,000 alloys
of all types, from aluminium to zirconium, including of course
cobalt-based and containing alloys of all kinds. It is universal,
not just for cobalt.
2.
Environment
We carry as much as we can on the relevant EU legislation.
Again, however, legislation references to chemicals do not
only refer cobalt.
